Local Support Brings Success for Enztec
Enztec Ltd, New Zealand’s only locally owned orthopaedic medical device company, have been celebrating after a decade of hard work and support from orthopaedic companies saw them achieve success at this year’s Canterbury Export Awards.
Enztec’s General Manager Stephen O’Neill says the award is not only recognition for Enztec, but for all of those people involved in New Zealand’s orthopaedic community.
“The Award came about from our deal with DePuy International after years of working closely with the local orthopaedic industry,” says Stephen O’Neill,
“This support has built Enztec in to what it is today and our thanks go out to all of the orthopaedic companies we have worked with over the years, and will continue to work with as we grow.”
Enztec began operating in the early 1990’s as a medical innovation company. Today they are focussed solely on the orthopaedic industry and service both local and international markets.
“As a growing company we have big goals and are aiming high to be recognised internationally for our innovative orthopaedic instruments and devices. We are continually growing and establishing ourselves as a global innovator in this space.”
The company says their success can be attributed to the interaction with both the medical practitioners and the internationally owned orthopaedic companies in New Zealand. “Their interest in developing new solutions and Enztec ability to help them realise these have helped build the company into what it is today.”
Mr O’Neill says the future success of Enztec is not guaranteed but the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit is still high. “The company began with clever entrepreneurs who still work with Enztec. We want to keep that spirit of success alive and build our own portfolio of products.”
While Mr O’Neill admits that this will take time the company has already begun to place more resources on to carving out their own path of intellectual property creation.
“We are ideally placed to take advantage of this large opportunity since we can offer the orthopaedic market a complete design and manufacturing service.”
