Lightpipe

The Client
Stryker South Pacific

The Need
Through ongoing surgeon input, Enztec identified the need for a new lighting paradigm in theatre. A procedural modification project created unique conditions. A lighting solution had to be found that would perform in a tight space yet be robust and safe. Close collaboration with surgical experts resulted in a device that met with all specific functional requirements and more. The project developed into wider applications; helping reduce eye strain and make lighting more specific and useable for the surgeon.

The lucrative nature of the project required input from a client at an international level. Established relationships resulted in close collaboration with US-based client Stryker, who saw the incredible potential of this project and assisted in funding.

The Solution
Enztec initiated a design and development project to create the Lightpipe. This high quality device answers the needs of surgeons by providing a whole new lighting system which works in conjunction with a new retractor system. Its unique form and function produces unobtrusive light that is able to satisfy the demands of an operating environment.

All manufacturing of the Lightpipe is carried out by Enztec to meet with strong client demand; up to 5000 units produced per month. As with every product produced by Enztec, high quality and regulatory standards are always met and maintained. Intellectual property lies exclusively with Stryker, with manufacturing rights held by Enztec.

The Outcome
Once again, Enztec achieved success for the client and surgeons alike. Close attention was paid to all stakeholders in the project. Intensive collaboration resulted in a functional and effective product that brings financial and functional success.
